SXR 339 Summer School Photo Notes Glen Gairn ========== Locality 3: 1 Folding in metasediments 2 Contact between coarse grained granite and country rock. 3 Metasediment folding. Quartz vein on top-left appears to have been folded into and with the country rock 4 Variety of contacts between country rock and granites (diffuse, sharp). 2cm Quartz vein 5 Large pegmatite - large quartz crsytals surrounds by feldspars and mica rich bands (1/3 down and at bottom of field of view). 6 Very course granite (K-fsp and mica rich to top right), much finer, whiter granite to lower left (sharp contact). Country rock xenolith in lower left corner. Locality 2: 7, 8 Pegmatite layer in outcrop Locality 4: 9 Contact between country rock (vertical outcrop) with granite (horizontal outcrop in foreground) 10 Pegmatite within Country Rock (which shows foliation) 11,12,13,14 Rocks on the 'table' - various compositions: granite, granodiorite, diortie (?), felsite 15 Contact between diorite (?) and granite 16 contact between medium grained granodiorite and coarse grained granite
